Name: Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy (PELD) Surgical Instruments

Indications for Use:

1. Contained lumbar disc herniation.

2. Large, protruding, and sequestered lumbar disc herniation.

3. Lumbar disc herniation with calcification of the intervertebral disc and ligamentum flavum.

4. Most cases of lumbar spinal stenosis.

5. Recurrent lumbar disc herniation after open surgery.

6. Recurrent lumbar adjacent disc degeneration and protrusion after open surgery.

Description:

Under direct visualization with the endoscope, the protruding nucleus pulposus, nerve roots, dural sac, and hypertrophic bone tissue can be clearly seen. Various types of grasping forceps are then used to remove the protruding tissue, bone tissue is removed under the endoscope, and the damaged annulus fibrosus is repaired  with a radiofrequency electrode. The surgical trauma is minimal: the skin incision is only 7mm, about the size of a soybean, with blood loss of less than 20ml, and only one suture is required postoperatively. This is the least invasive and most effective minimally invasive therapy for lumbar disc herniation among similar surgeries.
